Have you ever wondered why some things are done a certain way here at St. John’s? Have you ever had an idea of how to improve something in the parish or the school, but you weren’t quite sure whom to approach? Have you ever wished we could do more as a community?

Well, we are here to help. We are your St. John Francis Regis Church Pastoral Advisory Council. We are your neighbors sitting in the pews with you every weekend. We are involved in a wide variety of ministries in our parish. We come from all seasons of life. We represent you, and we want to help Father Ray help us all.

Our mission is simple and clear: The Pastoral Advisory Council advises Father Ray on projects and activities for the overall good of the parish and school, and helps promote and grow the parish community in a spirit of openness and inclusiveness.

The current council has been able to advise Father Ray in matters big and small. Among other projects, the time for the Saturday evening Mass was changed by your vote and consent; a ministry fair offered parishioners new avenues for involvement; the meeting rooms in the Monsignor Harris Center were renamed after favorite saints by your vote and consent; and a set of new, beautiful Nativity figures was purchased. We have much more in the works, and we encourage and invite your suggestions.

What does the council do?
The St. John Francis Regis Church Pastoral Advisory Council advises the pastor on projects and activities for the overall good of the parish and school, and helps promote and grow the parish community in a spirit of openness and inclusiveness.

What do I have to do to join?
Council members may be nominated by the pastor or by any parish member in good standing, or they may nominate themselves. On approval of the pastor, a new member may join the council. To serve on the Pastoral Advisory Council, a nominee must be at least 18 years old, a registered parishioner of St. John Francis Regis Church and a Catholic in good standing.

How often does the council meet?
The Pastoral Advisory Council meets every other month, with additional meetings as necessary.
