On April 20, 2009, Knights of Columbus Council #7914 held an Awards Banquet to honor those members of the parish and/or community whose dedication and contributions have earned them special recognition.
Awardees were:
Catholic Teacher of the Year: Barbara Brown
Citizen of the Year: Dan Skane
Family of the Year: Jerry and Anita Hicks
Police Officer of the Year: Senior Deputy Andy Holton
Knight of the Year: Skip Jones
New Member Service Award: Mearl Rusaw
The banquet was held in the new Msgr Harris Center at St. John Francis Regis S.J. Catholic Church, in Hollywood.
Also during this event, Sal Sanfilippo and Spurgeon Terry were made "Honorary Life Members."

Citizen of the Year: Sir Knight Spurgeon Terry
Family of the Year: Skip and Diane Jones and Family
EMT of the Year: Kelley Rhodes
Firefighter of the Year: Richard Brady
The banquet was held in the new Msgr Harris Center at St. John Francis Regis S.J. Catholic Church, in Hollywood.
Continuing the celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Knights of Columbus, Grand Knight Jerry Hicks read a proclamation by the St. Mary’s County Board of Commissioners congratulating the Knights on their 125th anniversary, urging the members to continue to keep alive the organization’s traditions and history and recognizing the role played by priests in the Knights' formation in the faith.
Jean Terry accepted the Citizen of the Year award on behalf of her husband, Spurgeon. Firefighter of the Year, Richard Brady, was unable to attend and will be recognized at a future event.
The honored guest and principal speaker for the evening was Knights of Columbus Maryland State Secretary Richard V. (Dick) Siejack, accompanied by his wife, Pat.
